SINGLE PITCH and abseil guide Intermediate Course

This course covers a wide range of the technical aspects of guided abseiling and single-pitch climbing. The hands-on approach will keep learners constantly active and is designed to lay a solid foundation in both safety and climbing skills. If the principles taught on this course are adhered to, and continued with diligence, they will serve as an excellent start to your new, healthy outdoor passion.

The course is intended for climbers who have some experience and have been climbing for a few years. They must already be leading and abseiling competently and have a fair general knowledge of climbing and related subjects. The course will equip them with the necessary skills to safely manage a group during group abseil and single-pitch climbing activities at a climbing wall or outdoor crag that is less than one rope length high. This course will run over a week and weekend and consists of 2 classroom-based theory sessions as well as 3  practical outdoor sessions.

During classroom sessions, learners will be taught many detailed techniques needed to safely handle groups, climbing theory and rescue techniques to deal with many possible
unforeseen circumstances. Weekend sessions involve general client care and applying the techniques they have learned to actual climbs.

After the course, learners can be assessed on a separate occasion and receive a certificate if found competent.

Two-and-a-half days at an outdoor location, preceded by 2 evenings of theory at our training centre in Florida North, Johannesburg, or at a venue of your choice if we have 5 or more students. Assessment is optional.

(assessment is not included in the training price and it is a separate event)
